Woody Hanson’s great-grandfather, Dr. William Hanson, and his wife Julia, left their aristocratic life in Great Britain to settle in the Fort Myers wilderness in 1884. He set up a medical practice and she played a key role in the development of the community’s cultural, religious, and social institutions.
