Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorshipI'm Trent Brown.
Im the artistic director of Joyful and Triumphant, and I'm also professor of music and director of choirs at Florida Gulf Coast University.
This is my 15th year at FGCU, and it's, I think, our 12th year of joyful and triumphant.
Today we are rehearsing the set for chamber choir, which includes the Macmillan or Radiant Dawn.
We are almost to the end of our rehearsals.
We have, I think it's just three more rehearsals here on campus, and then we get one rehearsal.
Only one to put it all together.
It's a really, an entire department event.
It's more than just what I do.
And the choir is all of our faculty get involved.
We have an associate director of choirs, Doctor Bryan Ijames, who joins us, and he's doing just spectacular work.
My name is Mia Fields.
This is my first year of FGCU.
My favorite part about choir is the community that it builds.
Like, I feel like we're very much a family.
I'm Jose Oterro.
I'm one of the seniors here at FGCU studying a bachelor's in music education.
And I've been with Doctor Brown through Joyful and Triumphant all four years.
So this is like the staple.
There's joy in seeing those students who are upperclassmen show the underclassmen how the ropes work and what the show is all about.
I think it's definitely helped me become more outgoing and like, be able to put myself out there more.
With FGCU being only 25 ish years old.
We don't have some of the same traditions that other universities have.
But think about it for for about half of the life of FGCU, we've had joyful and triumphant people get worried about what's our future going to be like.
And all I say is just hang out with our students for a day and you'll feel as positive about, the future of our world as I do.
Joyful and Triumphant captures what the season is about, giving.
And we're we're grateful that we can provide this for the community and hope that it puts you in the mood for the season.
Where a mother laid her baby in a manger for his bed.
Mary was that mother mild, Jesus Christ her little child.
He came down to earth from heaven, who is God and Lord of all And his shelter was a stable, and his cradle was a stall.
With the poor and mean and lowly, lived on earth our Savior holy.
Not in that poor lowly stable, with the oxen standing by.
We shall see him; but in heaven, set at Gods right hand on high; Where like stars, his children crowned, all in white shall wait around.
O Come All Ye Faithful joyful and triumphant, O come ye to Bethlehem.
Come and behold him born the King of angels; O come let us adore him, Christ the Lord.
Sing, choirs of angels; sing in exultation.
Sing all ye citizens of heaven above.
Glory to God in the highest O come let us adore him, Christ the Lord.
Yea, Lord, we greet thee, born this happy morning.

The First Noel the angel did say was to certain poor shepherds in fields as they lay.
In fields where they lay keeping their sheep on a cold winters night that was so deep.
Noel, noel, noel, noel.
Born is the King of Israel.
Then let us all, with one accord sing praises to our heavenly Lor that hath made heaven and earth of naught and with his blood, mankind hath bought.

In the bleak midwinter frosty wind made moan, earth stood hard as iron, water like a stone; Snow had fallen snow on snow, In the bleak midwinter long ago.
Heaven cannot hold him, nor earth sustain, when he comes to reign, when he comes to reign.
What can I give, Poor as I am?
If I were a shepherd I would bring him a lamb; If I were a wise man, I would do my part, what I can give him, give my heart.
Heaven and earth shall flee away when he comes to reign.
when he comes to reign.
What can I give, Poor as I am?
If I were a shepherd, I would bring a lamb, If I were a wise man, I would do my part, what I can give, what I can give give my give my heart.

A spotless rose is blowing, sprung from a tender root, Of ancient seers foreshowing, of Jesse promised fruit; Its fairest bud unfolds to light Amid the cold, cold winter, and in the dark midnight.
The Rose which I am singing, where of Isaiah said, Is from its sweet root springing in Mary, purest Maid; For through our Gods great love and might The Blessed Babe she bare us in a cold, cold winters night.
The Rose which I am singing, where of Isaiah said, Is from its sweet root springing in Mary, purest Maid; For through our Gods great love and might The Blessed Babe she bare us in a cold, cold winters night.
