Its economy--ranching and farming--has always been linked to the land, which is why Desoto is home to a number of important agricultural inventions, including the rotary mower, the Fenton Feeder, and Jessup's Root Plow. In addition to cowboys, farmers, and innovators, the town of Arcadia played vital roles during World Wars I and II.
